A Word About Our Teachers
Mary Anne Trettel (3 & 4 year olds) and Lauri Killian (4 & 5 year olds) are our preschool teachers. They both live in the Highlands School district. Mary Anne and Lauri hold Master’s degrees in Elementary Education and a combined teaching experience of many, many years! These women collaborate regarding curriculum while following PA basic academic standards including fine and gross motor and social skills. They believe in a NO STRESS environment and learning through activities and games. They like to have fun! This program has been around for over 60 years, and our teachers continue to do a wonderful job with our students.
Coordinator
Alyse Zylinski is currently a homemaker to three young children. Before becoming a homemaker, Alyse was the librarian for Highlands Middle School. Alyse is also active in the Highlands Area Soccer Club as well as the community. Alyse's degrees include a bachelor’s degree in child development and Family Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree from Carlow University in Early Elementary Education (prek-4th grade). Alyse is looking forward to helping the community in her new role as coordinator of the preschool program.
Treasurer
Shannon Fisher is currently a stay-at-home-mom of two young children. She is a steering committee member with Sarver MOPS/MomCo. Shannon previously taught fifth grade at Carlisle Area School District and was a substitute teacher at several of our local districts. Shannon's degrees include a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6th grade) and a Master’s Degree in Special Education, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.
